A Caracara’s Day

I have made a discovery!

This morning, while scouting near the road, I found a flock of vultures gathered around — well, nothing. I assumed they’d found carrion, but when I flew closer there was no carcass at all.

When I asked what they were doing, one vulture explained that the shiny, fast creatures that roar up and down the road sometimes expel food! Perfectly good food! Wrapped in a strange shiny skin (which, they advised, one should not eat).

After watching for a while, I saw it myself: a creature hurled out small orange balls — crunchy, salty, delicious. Truly a marvel.

Later, I fought a vulture for a proper carcass (I won, naturally — I am a caracara, after all), and then added some moss to my nest. A successful day, though I am still in awe of the road creatures and their gift of endless food.
